Gretjen Clausing

Gretjen is a filmmaker, independent media programmer, and activist, she has made her home in Philadelphia since 1989. She was the assistant director of the Neighborhood Film/Video Project and communications manager for the Philadelphia Festival of World Cinema, as well as the coordinator of the Philadelphia Independent Film/Video Association. She was the unit publicist for Robert Palumbo's film, Fallout and worked as the assistant editor on the video Shelter Stories, a video documentary co-made by formerly homeless youth. She curated Animated Conversation at Vox Populi Gallery, a program of work by Philadelphia-based animators, and has made video projects with community groups through Scribe Video Center. She has served as a juror for the Community Education Center's Feminist Film Series and currently is a member of the advisory board of Vox Populi Gallery. She is a part of the Philadelphia Coalition for Public Access. Clausing received a B.S. in communications/cinema and photography from Ithaca College. Prior to becoming the inaugural director of PhillyCAM in July 2009, she served as Program Director at Scribe Video Center from 2005-2009 and prior to that as Program Director of Film at the Prince. She serves on the board of the National Alliance for Media Arts and Culture (NAMAC) and as President of the Philadelphia Independent Film and Video Association (PIFVA).
