Yasmine J. Awais, is Assistant Clinical Professor at Drexel University’s Creative Arts Therapy Department. She has extensive cross-cultural clinical and supervisory experience, practicing in Philadelphia, New York, Chicago, Boston, Japan, and Saudi Arabia. Yasmine has presented her research, clinical, and supervisory work nationally and internationally. Research interests include increasing diversity within the field of art therapy, as well as HIV intervention strategies for underserved communities. Yasmine currently serves on the board of Artistic Noise, a Boston and NYC based non-profit that works with young people involved in the juvenile justice system. She has collaborated on photography projects with incarcerated men, youth in the NYC public school system, and school refusing youth in Tokyo. Her personal artwork is an examination of identity through photographing artificial and natural environments. Yasmine is excited to be collaborating with K.C. and the women at Philadelphia FIGHT.

K.C. Wuebbling is currently an art therapist working full time at Philadelphia Fight and consulting with other non-profit organizations throughout the Delaware Valley area. K.C. received their undergraduate in ceramic arts in 2013 at Indiana University and recently completed their MA in Art Therapy and Counseling at Drexel University. Similar to their mentor, Yasmine, K.C.’s creative process revolves around identify exploration. The focus of their work is the balance between the masculine and feminine archetypes within their persona. Their work consists primarily of hand built vessels embellished with illustrated or photographic images. Beyond the exploration of identity through clay, K.C. also uses photography to continue the creative process away from the studio. “I believe that photo’s provide a glimpse of the creators’ perceptual reality. It provides a window into their lived experience that can be explained, but never truly understood.”
