National LGBTQ Task Force for Queering Racial Justice

Join The National LGBTQ Task Force Saturday, September 10 from 9:00 am - 6:00 pm at The Philadelphia African American Museum (701 Arch St) for a day of learning, storytelling and skill building for queer and ally people of color and white folks who want to build their anti-racist skills and explore applying these in the LGBTQ movement and beyond. Join along with scores of other people from Philadelphia who care deeply about creating change in our communities. You are encouraged to bring your family, your faith community, your colleagues and classmates.

Workshops will be offered on Islamophobia, economic justice, decriminalization, coalition building, being a better ally to transgender people, working through white privilege, and sustaining ourselves and each other.

Outcomes:

  • To understand how we are socialized into racism (ableism, sexism, classism, and more) through the cycle of oppression;
  • To provide meaningful spaces for people of color to engage about their personal experiences within communities of color;
  • To educate participates about the National LGBTQ Task Force's intersectional lens and our racial justice work in churches, at the Creating Change Conference, in reproductive justice, in trans/GNC justice and in other areas;
  • To support white people to engage with one another about white privilege and internalized dominance, and how to interrupt our own racism as well as that of others;
  • Engaging people of color to facilitate antiracism organizing in POC communities.
