Video artist Madsen Minax's new cult classic, Kairos Dirt & the Errant Vacuum, follows a queer middle school lunch lady, her multiple lovers and eccentric friends as they make contact with a trans-worldly ghost in an food-obsessed alternate sex-space-time. In collaboration with the Free Library of Philadelphia, PhillyCAM launches a series of media trainings that will teach community members how to create short video and audio productions with their tablets, smartphones, and apps. Together, the productions will form the People’s Media Collection, an online archive of hyperlocal content and community voices. [learn more]
Lindsey Martin and Sara Zia Ebrahimi (LTA '14, ACG '13, '09) curate Remember When, a collection of short animated films reflecting on girlhood, screening as part of Live Culture at PhillyCAM on June 2. Jos Duncan (LTA '13, ACG '11) the USA Producer, presents along with Creative Producer Russell Porter and Executive Producer Tanya Valette, To Be A Human Being: A Collective Portrait of Humanity a 6-part global documentary series exploring 6 themes in 8 countries. Through 1-hour episodes, the series explores: Love, Hope, Faith, Sustenance, Culture, and Fear. Each episode of the series will air on PhillyCAM (Comcast 66/Verizon 29) every Sunday evening from March 6 - April 10 at 8:30pm. [learn more]
