Taino Cultural Workshop Hosts Film Screening of Even the Rain

The Taino Cultural Workshop in collaboration with the Caribbean Community in Philadelphia will host a film screening of Even the Rain (También la lluvia) on June 3. The screening will be followed by a panel discussion facilitated by Priscilla Anacakuyani (ACG '17) on how colonialism affected the peoples of the Caribbean during the time of contact, Indigenous survival, and what effects are still felt today in the Caribbean and the rest of the Americas. Sara Zia Ebrahimi's (LTA '14, ACG '13, '09) short film The FBI Blew Up My Ice Skates will be screened as part of the Philadelphia Film Society's Philly Film Showcase on March 3. The film will also screen on March 9 at the Newtown Theatre's Independent Film Night in Newton, PA. [learn more]

Scribe Video Center will be hosting a screening and artist talk of Arthur Jafa's Dreams Are Colder Than Death. Jafa will speak about the film on Thursday, July 31 from 12:00pm to 1:30pm at the Scribe Video Center (4212 Chestnut Street), followed by a screening at the Philadelphia International House (3701 Chestnut St.) at 6:30pm.
