Teen Lounge at Fleisher Art Memorial is accepting project proposals from teaching artists for paid residencies. Teen Lounge provides young people with opportunities to work with experienced Teaching Artists from around the region. Participating teens evaluate proposals submitted by Teaching Artists through the RFP (Request for Proposals) process.
The deadline is March 6th, 2017 for projects in April - August 2017. We will be selecting eight visiting artists, who are compensated up to $600 for 4 sessions with a supply budget of $150. Artists will be asked to attend a proposal review fair to be scheduled for Monday March 13th 2017 from 4-5:30pm, to meet Teen Lounge students, who will then vote to select the artists they want to work with in the Spring & Summer terms. The workshops should offer young people, between the ages 13 and 18, exciting opportunity to be introduced to a medium or explore a theme of relevance to this age group. The workshop must be completed in 6-8 hours (3-4 sessions) maximum. Experimental workshop proposals are welcome and highly encouraged. The sessions will be held on Mondays, Tuesdays, or Wednesdays from 3:30 to 6:00 pm, and the Summer session time slot will be determined at a later date to align with Fleisher’s summer camp. Note: Up to 20 students attend our Teen Lounge daily, from a variety of levels in art making experiences. Please keep this in mind when designing your workshop.
