Celebrating Leeway Grantees

Leeway Artist Book and Website

Art and Change Grantees and Transformation Awardees and their work. This book is shared with other artists and grantmaking foundations, as well as arts, cultural, and social change organizations across the region and nation to increase visibility of the power of women and trans people's art and social change work. All Leeway grant recipients receive copies of the book for their own use. In addition to the book, all grant recipients are featured on Leeway's website.

Celebration

Grant recipients are invited to participate in Leeway's annual celebration honoring the Grantees and sharing their art and social change work with the larger community.

Leeway most recently celebrated our 2007 Grantees with the Leeway Changemakers Cabaret at Painted Bride Art Center on October 2, 2008. People from around the region gathered to honor local artists engaged in transformative work. There were performances and screenings by 2008 Grantees and Awardees: A.Q. Quintero, Barbara Gregson, Beverly Collins-Roberts, Brinae Ali, Elaine Hoffman Watts, Jeannine Cook, Joy Esther Phillips Butts, Judith Trustone, Kameelah Waheed, Lili Bita, Misty Sol, Nana Korentemaa Ayeboafo, Natalie O'Hara (pictured below), Sasa Ynoa, Sara Felder, tiona.m., Trapeta Mayson, and Vena Jefferson.
