Susan Collins

Susan will create a video documentary depicting the cultural and social realities that transgender people face in her region, especially within the healthcare system. The documentary will be shown to healthcare professionals in the Delaware Valley as an educational tool to aid in their understanding of trans issues. Susan will provide an inclusive view of those who identify as transgender in the documentary, interviewing each participant and allowing time for her subjects to share personal expressions (e.g. art, music). The project will facilitate a re-examination of concepts and stereotypes regarding trans people, and dispel the myths, fear and prejudice that often exist regarding trans people, resulting in more accepting and compassionate medical treatment. Susan will arrange to have the film shown in health care facilities throughout the Delaware Valley.
