Nora Hiriart Litz

Nora's project entitled "El Viaje (The Journey)" is a 10-12 workshop series which invites a number of Mexican families to engage in open dialogue, using writing, painting, printmaking, and video to record stories of the emerging Mexican community in South Philadelphia. As an immigrant herself, her goal is to connect with Mexican women, men, and children in a comfortable space, where they can begin to communicate their similar struggles, sacrifices, triumphs, and realities as immigrants that have made the journey to the United States. These dialogues will bring to focus many pressing issues relating to assimilation, maintaining identity and culture of origin, and the search for opportunity.
