2016 Art and Change Grant – $2,500

Alisha will interview 100 women living in East Kensington about work and money. Partnering with House of Grace Catholic Worker, she seeks to learn how transgender and cisgender women make their livelihoods in the formal, informal, and domestic economies of her neighborhood. The interviews will be transcribed and made available in an online archive. Alisha will then write a play informed by the interviews, and styled after a dawn bird chorus. The play will ultimately be performed by women living in East Kensington at one or more neighborhood sites.
