My goal is to create images with both decorative and expressive qualities. Each finished piece starts with forms from the natural world which have been worked with and adapted. With each piece, my task is to create a unique rhythm and atmosphere, leading the viewer to consider the relationships of color and form from one part of the surface to another.

It is important to me that the viewer is able to enjoy both the whole embroidery and it's detailed sections by viewing it at different distances. A work which appears tight and highly-constructed from a distance dissolves into a complex series of strokes and optically mixed colors as one comes nearer. I am most gratified when the viewer lingers over a piece, trying to take in all the detail.
