Through Missoula Oblongata, an experimental theatre company, Sarah will teach a free thirty-hour workshop in collaborative theatre making. The workshop will be open to the public, and will culminate in a public performance of work created by the students. The workshop will offer students the tools to create vibrant, exciting theatre and live performance within their own communities using limited resources. The act of fostering local, live performance within a community will empower both the performers and the audience to use the skills and self-confidence gained as a result of the workshop. Sarah hopes students will take the tools they learn in the workshop—expansive, creative thinking; mining and use of personal resources; self-empowerment; communication; and faith in one’s own ideas and aesthetic—and apply them to other aspects of their lives once the workshop is finished.
