Monnette Sudler (LTA ‘11, ACG ‘15, ‘14) Featured in WHYY-FM Interview

Monnette Sudler (LTA '11, ACG '15, '14) was interviewed by Alex Lewis for a WHYY-FM / NewsWorks broadcast. Listen to "Musician and composer Monnette Sudler is Philadelphia’s 'First Lady of Guitar'" here. (March 1, 2017)

Monnette Sudler says the guitar feels less like an instrument and more like a part of her body.

“Because now, at this point in my life, when I pick it up, it just feels natural,” she says from her apartment in Germantown. “I'm supposed to hold it, and it's really just an extension of myself now. Whatever I'm trying to convey — if it's excitement, or if it's love or blues, happy times or gratefulness — I believe I convey that.”

DE-CODED: Art + Tech for Social Change

Leeway Foundation hosts the May Live Culture event at PhillyCAM! Live Culture is an open house and live TV production that happens on the first Friday of every month, curated by different arts and culture organizations. Since it’s Philly Tech Week, we’re focusing on local artists who utilize new media and technology to build alternate landscapes at the intersections of art and social change. Featuring presentations and conversations with poet and digital artist Andrea Walls (ACG ’14) and independent filmmaker M. Asli Dukan (ACG ’16, ’14, LTA ’16), we'll explore and answer questions like, How has technology enabled you to express an idea that couldn't have been conveyed otherwise? What conversations aren't happening in the space of creative technology?
