Amber Emory

Amber Emory is a Philadelphia-based theater artist and entrepreneur. Her first company, Creative Caretakers, is a co-op of artists who have a passion for working with children through in-house childcare, group babysitting, and community partnerships. Her newest company, Mz.Initiative, was inspired by the Philadelphia 2015 Mz. Fest. Its mission is social innovation through artistic exploration and is currently a hub for female centric projects, education for young female leaders and advocate for equal opportunity artistic employment. She received her BA in Theater with a concentration in directing from Temple University and will be starting her MFA in Museum Exhibition Planning and Design at University of the Arts in the Fall of 2017. As a freelance theater artist, she has worked with a diverse array of Philadelphia Theater companies including the Arden Theatre Company, Philadelphia Theatre Company, Simpatico Theatre Project, The Wilma Theater, The Renegade Company, Pig Iron and Found Theater Company.

The Window of Opportunity (WOO) grant provides financial assistance of up to $1,500 to Leeway grant and award recipients to help them take advantage of imminent, time-sensitive opportunities to support their art for social change practice. The Community Care Fund (CCF) provides financial assistance of up to $1,250 to Leeway grant and award recipients to support with immediate and essential emergency needs. [read more]
