Anissa Weinraub is a public school educator, theater-maker (director-creator-performer) and organizer, living and working in Philadelphia. Her work sits at the intersection of community-building, art, and political change. Her days are spent helping students claim their expressive, whole selves; facilitating ensemble-based devised theater processes; and convening groups of people to strategize toward collective change. Her current cultural organizing project fuses these passions through collaborating with students and educators to co-create a piece of documentary theater that amplifies their visions for educational transformation in Philadelphia.
She has organized alongside the Teacher Action Group, Caucus of Working Educators, and Philadelphia Student Union, and has shown work/collaborated with Cornerstone Theater Company, Wilma Theater, Simpatico Theatre, Directors Gathering, First Person Arts Festival, Liberty Cabbage Theater, BareTeeth Crew, CounterPULSE, Philadelphia Young Playwrights, WHYY, and the Academy at Palumbo. Recently, she has ventured into working in film, serving as executive producer on the web series, Resistance: the battle of philadelphia.
