Asian Arts Initiative advances racial equity and understanding, activating artists, youth, and their communities through creative practice and dialogue grounded in the diverse Asian American experience. The Shared Spaces Program (共享空间) will provide low- or no- cost access to residency, rehearsal, or meeting space for neighborhood based cultural groups, ensuring that these groups will continue to have a presence in the fast developing Chinatown & Callowhill/Chinatown North neighborhoods.

The Shared Spaces Facilities Associate is responsible for the management and maintenance of multiple building facilities participating in the Shared Spaces program. The Shared Spaces Facilities Associate will maintain relationships with multiple sites and their users, understand each building’s specific needs and schedules, ensure the community spaces offered in the program are maintained before and after rentals, and ensure any and all records are delivered to the relevant parties. The Facilities Associate will also work with the Neighborhood Outreach Associate to ensure that Shared Spaces program users can access buildings for their rentals.

Primary Responsibilities:

- Develop and implement protocols in partnership with Asian Arts Initiative’s Facilities Team for conducting walk-throughs and coordinating cleaning and maintenance of multiple neighborhood spaces participating in the “cultural spaces program,” to ensure these areas are safe, clean, and hospitable to receive guests.

- Schedule, attend to and assist repairs, maintenance, and cleaning of Shared Spaces program-related facilities, office equipment and furniture, and perform basic maintenance as necessary.

- Coordinate ordering, tracking, receiving, maintaining, and storing program-related facilities supplies.

- Coordinate with Shared Spaces program users to ensure access to neighborhood spaces.

- Complete and maintain records of space use at all various sites.

- Contribute to ongoing evaluation of program guidelines and delivery.

- Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Skills:

- Good communication skills

- Ability to represent Asian Arts Initiative while in conversation with many neighborhood partners

- Trustworthy and dependable with recent positive references.

- Must submit to local and state background checks.

Hours: 15-25 Hours/week, with many evenings/weekends as the program requires. This is a part-time, contracted position that does not receive benefits. 

Compensation: $20/hour

Time Frame: June 30, 2018 - October 31, 2019
