Black Quantum Futurism, comprised of Leeway board member Rasheedah Phillips and Camae Ayewa (LTA '15, ACG '07), were recently featured on A Blade of Grass's (ABOG) website with a video detailing the scope of the work done through the Community Futures Lab in the Sharswood section of North Philadelphia. Phillips and Ayewa, recipients of a 2016 ABOG Fellowship, created a community art and research project to explore the impact of redevelopment and displacement in the area. The project, “Community Futurisms: Time & Memory in North Philly,” uses Afrofuturist theory to collectively envision the future and preserve the community’s cultural history.
