Call for Video Extras: Bare Teeth Performance Crew

Bare Teeth Performance Crew is looking for extras for the final scene in their new video. Since 2013 Bare Teeth has been working on a site specific dance film project, gathering stories and witnessing the body memories of our grandparents, aunts, mothers, fathers, neighbors, fellow gardeners, community organizers, wise revolutionaries and artist mentors about recipes for survival and getting free. This work has developed into a speculative narrative film directed by Aidan Un, featuring Bare Teeth pieces and some of these folks sharing their wisdom through word and dance.

The final scene for the film is based on a dream, Bare Teeth member Althea Baird had during the Trayvon Martin case about a mass procession of Philadelphians, marching away from the city, with hoods up, through a vast meadow. People were lead by wooden chariots, driven by our elders who taught us a new and future freedom song as we traveled; “ooooo we can make it, make it…..” That will be the scene that is shot on June 6.

Here is information from Althea on what the day will look like:

11AM arrive at Bartrams Gardens! We will have a spread of coffee and juice and bagels and fruits and bloody marys and gluten free stuff etc.
11:30AM anyone who would like to do some simple dance moves and a simple song can learn them. then we'll all do a practice walk through the field.
12PM we'll do 5 or 6 takes of the official walk on camera to catch it from different angles.
1PM we'll do close-ups and small group and individual shots -- Althea send you a separate email if they want ask you to do something specific in one of these.
3PM we will all be done, no matter what. you can leave whenever you need to.

Please email Althea (a.baird[at]gmail.com) back ASAP and RSVP if you can come or not!!!!
Think about if theres anyone you could invite? Who would you leave the city with? Who do you take the streets with? Who are you with when you think that freedom and revolution are not somewhere else? With whom do you return? Elders or mentors from your life? Family members? Your kids?
Invite those people if you want, and email Althea to let her know who and how many folks you are bringing.
Think about what you wear and bring with you on an exodus march to freedom. Rolly suitcase? Bucket drum? Cane or chair? Duffle bag? Cases of water? Mask? Put People First tshirt?
If there are props or costumes you really want to be there but don't have, let her know.
Definitely bring a hoodie.
