Protest Music for Social Change: The Diane Monroe Jazz Septet

The role of 60's protest music developed in the struggles for positive social change that fueled progressive movements. Diane reinterprets time-honored protest songs–with a focus to create new songs of resistance and progressive imagination–keyed to today’s social issues. There will be a short opening lecture by special guest, TBA, followed by a performance/open rehearsal, a talk-back, and reception with light refreshments. Performing artists: Diane Monroe, violinist; Paul Jost, vocalist; Germaine Ingram, dancer; Charlotte Blake-Alston, storyteller; Tony Miceli, vibraphonist; Lee Smith, bassist; Francois Zayas, drummer.
