Teen Lounge at Fleisher Art Memorial (719 Catharine St) is accepting project proposals from teaching artists for paid residencies. Fleisher’s Teen Lounge provides young people with teens with a space where they can develop their own creative programs by choosing the artists with whom they wish to work. Projects are often collaborative and rely on a strong group dynamic, allowing teens to explore a wide range of art mediums. Deadline: November 30.
The workshops should offer young people between the ages 13 —18 an exciting opportunity to be introduced to a medium, or explore a theme of relevance to this age group. The sessions need to be completed in 6-8 hours (3-4 sessions) maximum, and will be held on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 3:30pm to 6:00pm. Approximately 15 students attend the Teen Lounge from a variety of levels in art making experiences. Experimental workshop proposals are welcome.
Proposals will be reviewed and selected by the members of the Teen Lounge. Please make sure to use clear and direct language. The teens will be the only group deciding on which projects to select. Artists are paid $150 per session (totaling $450- $600) and allowed a budget of $150 for supplies.
A total of six visiting artists will be selected. Artists will be asked to attend a proposal review fair, tentatively December 7th, to meet Teen Lounge students.
