For Women Collective Featured in The Market on CCPTV

The Market is a new CCPTV program focused on the African American Diaspora, featuring guests who can illuminate today's cultural experience with in-depth historical context. The show, hosted by Ardencie Hall-Karambe, Community College of Philadelphia professor of English, started off the 2017 season with the Emmy® Bronze award for the episode featuring For Women Collective. Debra Powell-Wright (ACG '15, '11 '06), founder/director, along with Pat McLean (LTA '06, ACG '11, '05), the late Darlene Godwin-Beard, and Karen Smith, discussed their trek to the 50th anniversary commemoration of the 1965 March from Selma to Montgomery, Alabama. Watch this segment now on YouTube.

For Women Collective, an international performance ensemble in tribute to Nina Simone, is honored to have received this recognition in remembrance of our beloved sister, Darlene (featured in photo above), who made her transition on February 21st, Nina Simone's birthday.
