Casita De Las Olas is an installation and a performance collaboration between Genesis Martinez-Crespo (ACG ‘15, ‘14) and Marcelline Mandeng (ACG '16) that builds a home for diasporic identities. The Casita itself is a ghost of a Puerto Rican family in New York City. The work is informed by Genesis’ upbringing as a Nuyurican and the displacement of Puerto Ricans in American cities as well as those on the island. The opening is August 13 from 7:00pm to 10:00pm at 40th St AIR Gallery (4007 Chestnut St) with an accompanying collaborative performance by Marcelline Mandeng (ACG '16) at The Rotunda (4014 Walnut St) at 8:00pm. The show closes September 16.
