Kid’s Musical About Clean Energy

Philadelphia-based children's music duo Ants on a Log is producing their debut musical Curious November 13 and 19 at The Rotunda (4014 Walnut Street) in West Philadelphia. Curious encourages kids and their families to "think outside the pipeline" and get curious about other forms of energy beyond oil.

The folky feminist musical tells the story of a 12 year old girl who sees members of her community becoming sick due to the local oil refinery. When she hears of the refinery's plans to expand, she begins to learn more and organizes her neighborhood. With the help of her songful community and a dancing pencil, she strives to make big change even in the face of some bigger and more powerful people.

Curious showcases Ants on a Log's playful and timely advocacy, as well as the vibrant harmonies and clever lyrics that have propelled them into the national kids' music spotlight. Their first album, You Could Draw the Album Art has been featured on WXPN's Kids' Corner as well as several other kids' music programs and blogs.

Curious is funded in part by a Leeway Foundation Art and Change Grant. Audiences can get a sneak peek of the music on October 1 at 11:00am when Ants on a Log performs at World Cafe Live's kids' music series, Peanut Butter and Jams.
