The National Endowment for the Arts announced Vera Nakonechny (LTA '11), a Ukrainian embroiderer and bead worker from Philadelphia, is a recipient of a 2014 NEA National Heritage Fellowship, the nation's highest honor in the folk and traditional arts.
An expert in the art of crafting traditional Ukrainian textiles, including embroidery, beadwork, weaving, and other traditional forms related to textiles and adornment, Vera Nakonechny preserves and cultivates these Ukrainian traditions both in the United States and Ukraine.More information about Nakonechny, including examples of her work, can be found at here and here
