Women of Color Combating Violence: An Evening Conversation

Join the Institute for Community Justice, The Black Graduate Women's Association, and The Latin American Graduate and Professional Students for Women of Color Combating Violence: An Evening Conversation; taking place March 29 from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm at The Arch, University of Pennsylvania (3601 Locust Walk Room 208).

The evening will begin with a panel discussion of local women involved with these movements, including Faith Bartley (ACG '15), Assata M. Thomas, Kemba Smith, Celena Morrison and Teresa Sullivan, followed by a keynote address. The conversation will examine women of color experiencing, navigating, and contesting different forms of state sanctioned violence, including the mass incarceration and criminalization of women of color, intersectional activism, and women of color's experiences being actively involved in social change and reentry. Dinner will be provided and suggested donation proceeds would go to a local organization doing important addressing issues affecting women identifying individuals. Childcare services will be available.
