Whether you’re receiving grants, financially profiting from your art, self-employed or have an LLC, you must file taxes. But, what are the best filing options for your situation? Leeway Foundation and CultureWorks Greater Philadelphia have teamed up to help demystify tax season! 

Tax consultant Christianne Kapps will offer instruction and advice, and help explain some of the more confusing tax subjects for artists. In addition, Christianne will break down the City of Philadelphia’s Business Income and Receipts Tax and how it affects artists. 

Understanding Taxes for Artists will take place at 1315 Walnut Street on Wednesday, January 25, from 5:30pm to 7:30pm at the Leeway Foundation (Suite 832) and Monday, February 20 at CultureWorks (Suite 320) from 12:00pm to 2:00pm. The information presented in both workshops will be identical. Admission is free, but registration is required. Both offices are wheelchair accessible; American Sign Language interpretation & childcare can be made available with notice before January 18.

ABOUT CHRISTIANNE KAPPS

Christianne Kapps has been working with small businesses for 25 years. Ms. Kapps has a BA in Art History from Tyler School of Art and an MFA from PennDesign and maintains a ceramics studio in Philadelphia while bookkeeping and consulting with very small businesses, start-ups and small not-for-profit organizations throughout the area. Ms. Kapps works with self-employed individuals preparing tax returns and helping to navigate the world of the IRS as well as state and local taxes.
