2021 Art and Change Grant – $2,500

The Dragonfly project is a visual music video/short film attached to an original song entitled,"Dragonflies". The project aims to mentally liberate Black women who have experienced sexual identity crises, who have felt stifled, and stuck within themselves and/or the constructs that others have created, due to societal pressures from racism and sexism. Set to be shot in November in several areas in Philadelphia, Akilah will involve Black women in every aspect of the project from videography, cast, crew, and beyond – and will host several screenings of the work.

Window of Opportunity Grant

The Window of Opportunity (WOO) grant provides financial assistance of up to $1,500 to Leeway grant and award recipients to help them take advantage of imminent, time-sensitive opportunities to support their art for social change practice. The Community Care Fund (CCF) provides financial assistance of up to $1,250 to Leeway grant and award recipients to support with immediate and essential emergency needs. [read more]
