2017 Art and Change Grant – $2,500

Nkechi will pilot an artist in residency program at The Colored Girls Museum by creating an installation featuring a customized bed, a wall mural, art curated by Nkechi and donated by Philadelphia artists, and her own personal writing. Nkechi will live, work, and write at the museum; create a toolkit for Black women in the process of self examination; and curate and document the space for the next Black female artist in residence, who will be able to live in Nkechi's installation and add to it by creating their own documentation, art, and writing.
