2013 Art and Change Grant – $2,500

Shari’s project focuses on the life work of Gregory Scott, a devoted Gold Coast Buccaneer founder, who was brutally murdered on February 27, 2013. In light of this recent tragedy, an exterior of a residential building has been donated for a mural to honor the man and the mission of the Buccaneers- to mentor young African Americans in cultural awareness, values, and self-discipline while promoting community service. The painting will be done collectively in the neighborhood with the goal to beautify, memorialize, and raise awareness for this organization outside of West Philadelphia.
