Exhibition Dates: October 14-December 16, 2011
The Leeway Foundation supports women and transgender artists who create social change. Our fall exhibit, Tongue-in-Cheek, will be at the foundation’s office at 1315 Walnut Street in Center City. The exhibit features works by ten artists—the majority of whom are previous recipients of Leeway grant and award programs—exploring playful, whimsical images and concepts through diverse mediums such as painting, photography, screenprinting, puppetry and video.
The exhibition opens October 14, 2011 in conjunction with the annual Philadelphia Open Studio Tours (POST). Featuring Anula Shetty (LTA ‘07, WOO ‘04, HG ’02) & Michelle Myers (ACG ’11), Beth Nixon (LTA ’10), bex* (LTA ’09), Candy Depew (WOO ’04, EAA ’99), Elizabeth Fiend (WOO ’03), Judy Gelles (WOO ‘99), Naima Lowe & Emmy Bean, and Nannette Acker Clark (BBA ’99), it will remain on view through December 16, 2011.
As part of POST, visitors can meet the artists in person October 15-16, 2011 from 12:00pm-6:00pm.
