Cindy Lozito
Cindy Lozito is a muralist, illustrator, and cartoonist based in Philadelphia. Her work is rooted in drawing and painting, which she explores through scales as small as comics to as massive as building-wide murals. The themes that most often appear in her work are how we form our sense of identity, the power of imagination and play from childhood into adulthood, processing familial loss through story preservation, and creating spaces that make our surroundings more joyful and colorful than how we first found them. She considers every project an opportunity to use visual storytelling as a bridge of belonging for both the artist and the audience. Some of her clients include Abrams Books, New York Times, Philadelphia Art Museum, World Trade Center, LA Times, and more.

Overview
Cindy Lozito’s project, created in partnership with the volunteer social justice group Guerreras, will bring Latine immigrant communities in South Philadelphia together for two art-making workshops centered on belonging, home, and collective safety. Hosted at Juntos headquarters and Cindy’s studio at Bok, participants will use pastels, colored pencils, and paint to express what home and safety mean to them, developing shared imagery and symbols of resilience. Their collective designs will be transferred onto a large portable canvas banner, which the group will paint and complete together. Once finished, the banner will travel to protests and community events throughout the city, uplifting immigrant voices.
