Lynda Grace Black

 Lynda Grace Black is a multimedia artist interested in expressing the stories we carry, the connective power they hold, and the divine relationship we have to one another. Her primary mediums are yarn and twine and she is engaged in creating an evolving series of woven vessels representing lives lost to state sanctioned violence. This year, after a long career in Development, Public Relations and Program Administration, Lynda is focusing more time on art making and developing uplifting opportunities for others. The Colored Girls Museum, The Philadelphia Museum of Art, the Barnes Foundation, Seed on Diamond Gallery and numerous other Philadelphia venues have shown her work. Lynda's vessels are also featured in Making Good: An Inspirational Guide to Being an Artist Craftsman. An occasional public space DIY artist, her work has adorned trees in Philadelphia, PA; St. Helena Island, SC; Savannah, GA; Berlin, Germany; and London, England. Additionally, Lynda’s artistic activities include theatre direction and program administration. Born and raised in Philadelphia, Lynda has a BA in Communications from Temple University and an M.Ed. in Education from La Salle University. She is a student in The Alternative Art School and the Barnes-de Mazia certificate program at the Barnes Foundation. Lynda received a Window of Opportunity Grant from Leeway in 2001.
