Silvana Cardell

She/Her

Silvana Cardell is a Philadelphia-based dancer, choreographer, and educator whose work blends dance, theater, and visual arts. Born in Argentina and shaped by her Latin American roots, she identifies as a Latina immigrant woman, bringing lived experience into embodied research and sustained compositional practice. Her work engages critical questions of gender, power, ecology, and belonging, using performance as a site of inquiry and social transformation. Cardell holds an MFA in Dance from Temple University, a BFA from the University of the Arts. To cultivate artistic ecosystems that support dancers and create opportunities for others she created dance programs in Argentina and the United States. A 2022 Guggenheim Fellow in Choreography, she is the founder of Cardell Dance Theater and Cardell Dance Projects and served as Chair of the Dance Department at Georgian Court University from 2009 to 2024. Across performance and pedagogy, she makes art fostering critical awareness, connection, and social change.
