Artist Professional Development Day on Twitter

#ArtistHotline is more than a ‘how-to’ tweet chat, it’s an opportunity for artists to ask questions, build camaraderie, and generate knowledge collectively. With #ArtistHotline, we want to provide you with a welcoming space to start a dialogue. With 680+ tweets and over 40 partner organizations tweeting nationwide, last week’s kick-off was a trending success. Most importantly, participants felt supported and energized with their creative process. The need for ongoing professional development cannot be underestimated. Artists own their career and their development, but having access to resources and a community can make a huge difference in one’s professional outcome. If you missed the conversation, see the summary on Storify for advice on the business of art, including:

  • strategies on developing relationships with galleries/museums
  • how to price your artwork
  • getting started at a theater
  • filmmaking resources
  • how to create engaging videos for social media

Like any tweet chat, #ArtistHotline is always evolving and we welcome feedback from users. #ArtistHotline occurs on the third Wednesday of every month with the next event on Wednesday, August 19. Tell us what you’d like to discuss on Twitter and follow @nyfacurrent for updates.
