Don We Now Our Gay Apparel: LGBTQ T-Shirts From The Wilcox Archives

The t-shirts in this exhibit represent decades of LGBTQ advocacy and community building, both here in Philadelphia and across the United States. Through these t-shirts, we see our queer communities constantly in transition, often reflecting the hopes, dreams, and anxieties of queer people across different time periods. In this exhibit, you’ll encounter shirts representing the diversity of the LGBTQ experience, items from a proud queer deaf community, to humorous but serious calls promoting safer sex, to more recent additions brightly portraying the now more colorful black and brown Pride flag of Philadelphia.
