First Person Arts StorySlam: Battle Scars

Lovella Calica hosts StorySlam: Battle Scars at FringeArts (140 N. Columbus Boulevard) on May 23 at 7:00 PM.

StorySlam is hosted by Warrior Writers Founder/Director Lovella Calica.

StorySlam is more than a storytelling competition. It’s an invitation to share five minutes of your life and connect with a room full of people who appreciate a well-told tale. Gutsy audience members sign up at the door to tell true stories on the theme of the night: “Battle Scars.” Nobody’s perfect. From broken limbs to heartbreak, and everywhere in between, we want to hear all about your scrapes, scruffs, dings, and dents. Not every battle leaves a scar, but every scar tells a story. Of those who sign up, ten storytellers are randomly selected to take to the stage with their most outrageous, heartfelt, and hilarious tales. Judges, also selected from the audience, determine the StorySlam winner, who is awarded a $100 prize and a chance to compete in the season finale Grand Slam.

Got five minutes? Come and lend an ear, or share an experience!
