3:00 p.m. Join Asian Arts Initiative, the artist, and Community College of Philadelphia as we unveil this newly installed artwork. *Refreshments will be served

3:30 p.m. Shahzia Sikander and the curator, Alexandra Chang discuss the creative process behind The Perennial Gaze.

In collaboration with professional mosaic artisan Stephen Miotto, Shahzia Sikander transforms the historical miniature painting into an autonomous, liberated form. By building an image through broken glass pieces, Sikander dismantles the preciousness of a rarefied object most often found in Western museum storage. This event is FREE and open to the public, but we kindly ask you to register in advance.
