Joan Myers Brown Proposes Charter School To Be Named After Her

Joan Myers Brown (LTA '13) is collaborting with String Theory Schools to bring a proposed K-8 charter school to her native West Philadelphia, which would be named in her honor.

The proposed Joan Myers Brown Academy would have a special focus on dance, and Brown was asked to write a curriculum for dance training for the institute. A public hearing will be held on January 22 for the academy and other charter schools, before going to the Philadelphia Board of Education for a vote on approval.
