Kensington Memories, Neighborhood Histories

What did Kensington look like in the past? And how has it changed? Philadelphia artist Betty Leacraft (ACG '16, '14, '09, LTA '11, WOO '99) unveils her latest quilt, commissioned by Philadelphia Assembled, which will display the passage of time through archival images of the Kensington neighborhood. In addition, a display of selected photographs provide a behind the scenes look at the quilt's creation process.

Kensington Memories, Neighborhood Histories will take place on July 9 from 12:00 to 3:00 PM at Tillmon Gardens. This event will also feature storyteller Denise Valentine (WOO '04), who will present "Neighborhood Histories, Unforgetting and Reconnecting: The Master Narratives," a series of stories emerging from her archival research into oral histories and folklore, with connections to Philadelphia neighborhoods and ancestral homelands.
