When the Chant Comes Book Tour

When the Chant Comes Book Tour
First Friday, February 2, 7 p.m. at Asian Arts Initiative (1219 Vine Street)

Poet, performer, and educator Kay Ulanday Barrett has been bringing his unique poetry to audiences for over a decade, unpicking vital political questions around race, disability and gender, and chronicling the everydayness of life in the U.S. Empire with acute perceptiveness and vitality. Polemical, tragic, funny and tender by turns, these poems show a master craftsman at the top of his game.

The evening will feature a reading by Kay as well as readings by local poets Osimiri Sprowal and Ras Mashramani (ACG '16).

Asian Arts Initiative will also be celebrating the opening reception of Aram Han Sifuentes' Those Who Talk Back. Gallery opens at 6 p.m.
