SCREENING SCHOLARSHIP MEDIA FESTIVAL 2021

Friday, April 16 5:00 PM - Sunday, April 18 7:00 PM
[REGISTER HERE]

The Screening Scholarship Media Festival (SSMF) provides a creative, collaborative space to engage with diverse multimedia projects. We explore the affordances and challenges of multimodal representational strategies in research, and we interrogate their social implications. SSMF is a hybrid between a traditional academic conference and a film/media festival. We strive to bridge the gap between art and science by bringing together scholars, artists, educators, and activists.

This year’s SSMF is organized around the theme Rupture and Repair. Originally the theme for the canceled 2020 festival, we felt it more important than ever to re-center the conversation around these ideas, especially in light of the monumental year we all have experienced. The festival will encompass a range of projects and perspectives that explore different forms of rupture or breakage, be they physical, structural, environmental, emotional, symbolic, or spiritual in nature, as well as the many forms of, and approaches to, repair.

SSMF will take place between the evening of Friday, April 16, and Sunday, April 18. A full schedule of panels, performances, screenings and keynotes can be viewed at this link. The festival is free to attend, and open to the public.
